RUTH N. GOOLSBY (born in St. Louis, MO, now residing in Houston, TX) is one of Contemporary Gospel Music's prized hidden treasures. With the ability to write, sing, play several instruments, arrange vocals, mix, master, engineer, produce, and more, she stands out as a fierce force to be reckoned with in the global music arena and far beyond. 

 Stemming from 4 generations of female musicians, the bug to play piano bit Ruth early in life. After hearing DeBarge's hit "Time Will Reveal" on a bus trip when she was just 6 years old, Ruth became enthralled in the chord structure of  modern Gospel music, finding deep affinity for musicians like Rudolph Stansfield, Richard Smallwood, Thomas Whitfield, and of course, the one and only Twinkie Clark. For Ruth, the jazzier the changes, the better.  In 1992, the Lord, as it seems almost instantly, anointed Ruth to play the organ at her home church. After their musician resigned, the Pastor told her to get on the organ and sit there until something happened. Out of obedience, she obliged and within 5 months, she was playing as if she'd been playing for years. It was evident that Ruth was truly anointed and called for God’s purpose.

Professionally, Ruth has worked with many of  today's top Gospel artists through either singing background or playing live events. She's performed  with artists like Marvin Sapp, Micah Stampley, Judith Christie-McAllister, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and others. She also has an impressive resume of background vocal studio with Kurt Carr, Kathy Taylor-Outley, Pastor Shirley Caesar, LeAndria Johnson (Vocal Producer), Ami Rushes, Eraka Sasser, as well as several independent artists. 

In summer of 1998, Ruth was appointed as the Musician's Coordinator for the entire International Church of God In Christ Youth Choir, by former Youth Choir Director/IMD President, Professor Iris Stevenson-McCullough. Ruth held  that same role for 10 years until 2008. She served  under Jacky Clark-Chilsholm, Vandalyn Kennedy, and briefly under Kim Burrell.  During her tenure with the International Church of God in Christ, Ruth was a frequent original song presenter for “A Song Is Born”, which was a platform for budding songwriters and artists to teach their music to a choir comprised of singers across the country.  She was also frequently selected to sing background for many of the mainstream artists that ministered throughout the yearly conventions. Her favorite opportunity came in 2002 when she sang background for Donald Lawrence for the largest concert of the event. Either through playing or singing, Ruth remained faithful until she stepped down to pursue other opportunities in music and media. 

In 2022, Ruth released two powerful songs with Global Gospel Music Sensation and former MLB  Player,  Todd Dulaney under his DulaneyLand Music Company. Her song Jesus The Answer boasts a rhythmic Indian drum line and a riveting bass line that garnered nationwide respect from some of the world’s top  musicians. Legendary songwriter Jeffery A. LaValley (Revelation 19:1) said the bridge was “simply fire”! Her song, The Cure was hand-picked by Dulaney and  featured (out of almost 500 song entries) on his “DulaneyLand Music Presents: Independent’s Day” project. The song gained acclaim for being written during the height of the COVID pandemic on Facebook Live. 

In  2024, Ruth released two more songs through her own company, RNGMUSIQ Productions. Shine Your Light, being fully musically produced, written  and vocally arranged by Goolsby, has lifted hearts all over the world  with its melodic whimsical movement; mixing Folk, Caribbean, Southern Gospel, Jazz, and traditional Gospel. Ruth calls it a clarion call to the world to let their light shine so others will see and receive Christ before His soon return. “ My music has mainly been about winning souls back to Christ because that's what our witness is supposed to be about”.   Legendary, Multi-Grammy award Gospel singer Dorinda Clark-Cole had this to say.  “After listening to “Shine Your Light”, I felt like I could go on another day”. Ruth also released a personal prayer in song entitled Walk Wit Me. This song showcases a softer milder side of Ruth's voice and gives the listener something to relate to in navigating through and persevering beyond lifes' obstacles. 

On September 12th of 2025, Ruth released her first ever  jazz instrumental entitled “PNG Image” which she personally calls l [PRAISE N' GLORY] to God. The song has a Calyspo base with a radical bass line that keeps listeners ears attentive until the very last note. “Being a true daughter of ministry, I was apprehensive to release this type of tune because I did not want to offend the church, but I gave God all glory with this one, just as with my songs that have lyrics.  It took a moment, but I came to terms that it's ok to let music be music if it's not disrespecting God and it's composed for His glory so I have more instrumentals coming soon and I am absolutely excited about letting people see this side of me”.

As a personal goal and homage to her mother and sister, in March of 2026, Ruth will be walking the stage achieving her Bachelors Degree in Audio Production from the illustrious Full Sail University, one of the nation's top Entertainment/Multimedia Schools. Many graduates are Grammy/Oscar/Dove/Stellar/Tony/Emmy Award winners and Ruth plans to conquer them all. She is currently working on 4 film projects, 1 television concept for Food Network, writing her first book, and releasing new music with her group Ruth Goolsby & Sealed.
